Daflon contains Diosmin and Hesperidin, which belong to the phlebotonic and vascular-protective class of drugs. These compounds enhance venous tone by prolonging the action of noradrenaline on the venous wall, thereby reducing venous capacitance, elasticity, and emptying time.
They also help maintain the integrity of the microcirculation by minimizing inflammation through inhibition of leukocyte activation and the subsequent release of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins and free radicals. This action improves capillary resistance and normalizes permeability.
Additionally, Daflon enhances lymphatic function by increasing lymphatic flow and oncotic pressure, improving lymph drainage.
Each DS (Double Strength) film-coated tablet contains:
Daflon 450 mg/50 mg
Daflon DS (900 mg/100 mg)
Occasional reports include mild gastrointestinal upset and autonomic symptoms such as discomfort. These events typically do not necessitate discontinuation.
No drug interactions have been reported during clinical use.
Individuals with known hypersensitivity should not use Daflon to any of its ingredients. Evaluation and management of chronic venous insufficiency should be done under medical supervision.
Animal studies have not shown teratogenic effects. No harmful effects have been observed in humans to date. However, due to a lack of data on breast milk excretion, use during breastfeeding is not advised.
